Wenn Sie hier gelandet sind, dann deshalb, weil Sie einen Teil der Fotoserie entdeckt haben, die ich im Winter 2023.2024 in CUBA aufgenommen habe. Mein Name ist Brieuc Le Meur. ich bin ein französischer Fotograf und Autor, der seit 16 Jahren in Berlin lebt. Diese produktive Serie entstand über einen Zeitraum von eineinhalb Monaten.

Meine Erfahrung dort waren sehr gemischt. Zunächst war ich beeindruckt von der extremen Armut der Einwohner, die durch das amerikanische Embargo zerstört wurde (seit Jahrzehnten kommt nichts mehr rein oder geht nichts mehr raus, keine Medikamente, keine Technologie, keine Energie, keine Infrastruktur). Dann wurde ich von der Magie Havannas verführt, das in der Zeit schwebt, von Wirbelstürmen und Verlassenheit heimgesucht wird, was den Dingen dort eine Schönheit, eine Sanftheit und eine Melancholie verleiht, die man in Europa, den USA oder anderswo nicht einfangen kann. Havanna ist Havanna. Aber es liegt im Sterben. Das Regime ist sehr hart. Freude, Aktivität, Elektrizität, Musik überall, volle Straßen… Das alles ist weg.

Ich empfehle Ihnen, sich diesen kurzen Film anzusehen, der in Ton und Bild die Hintergründe der Entstehung dieser Bilder zeigt. If you’ve landed here, it’s because you’ve discovered part of the series of photographs I took in CUBA in the winter of 2023.2024. My name is Brieuc Le Meur. I’m a French and Berlin-based author and artist. This prolific series was shot over a period of a month and a half.

My experience there was very mixed. Firstly, I was struck by the extreme poverty of the inhabitants, devastated by the American embargo (nothing has been coming in or going out for decades, no medicines, no technology, no energy, no infrastructure). Then I was totally seduced by the magic of Havana, suspended in time, ravaged by hurricanes and abandonment, which imbues things there with a beauty, a gentleness and a melancholy that is impossible to capture in Europe, the US or anywhere else. Havana is Havana. But it’s dying. The regime is very tough. Joy, activity, electricity, music everywhere, full streets… It’s all gone.

I suggest you watch this short film, which shows in sound and video, the background to the making of these pictures. Of course, I offer enlargements, framed or unframed, of superior quality (far superior to the prints shown in the bar), and at very reasonable prices. Brieuc Le Meur is french born photographer and film maker. He carries out a wide range of projects, from writing (movie, literature and philosophy) to media production, post production, documentaries, and fictions.

Narrative artist, music producer. Author of several novels and scripts, he is the founder of the music label and publishing company : Editions f4.

His pictorial work took a wider dimension in Berlin. His first feature film is a pictural achievement : Written and produced in Berlin, “For the daemon” (fiction, 1h16) is a social drama, a musical thriller released in 2020 on the german market (VOD).

I’m working with a fine art printer in Berlin, with very good results and very interresting textures, Epson photo paper, Hannemühle. Canvas material is a very good option, heavy and handy.
